Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers Offer Improved Efficiency Over Shell & Tube Units

(York, PA) -- 3/8/99 -- GEA FlatPlate brazed plate heat exchangers are gaining popularity in hydronic applications over traditional shell and tube style heat exchangers because of their compact size and superior performance characteristics. The improved thermal performance of GEA FlatPlate brazed plate units makes them the ideal replacement for shell and tube systems in domestic hot water heating, radiant floor, snow melt, and swimming pool heating applications. Suitable for installation in residential, commercial and industrial situations, GEA FlatPlate's design creates fluid turbulence, maximizing the heated liquid's contact with the system's surfaces, allowing heat transfer to be from 20% to 80% better than comparable shell and tube systems. And because GEA FlatPlate units are up to 60% smaller and 70% lighter than equivalent shell and tube heat exchangers, they are easier to install and less costly to ship. Says Steve Wand, President of GEA FlatPlate, "The number one comment from contractors is in regard to whether it will work because of its small size. And boy it does!" The versatility of GEA FlatPlate's heat exchangers has opened new doors in commercial markets for applications. Costing up to 50% less than other types of comparable heat exchangers, the units range in size from 10,000 BTUH up to 5,000,000 BTUH for heating. GEA FlatPlate maintains a complete inventory for standard applications with same day/next day shipping, and they offer an informative brochure detailing how to make the changeover from shell and tube to brazed plate heat exchangers.
